ABOUT ME
Hi there! My name is Jason, and I'd like to share a bit about myself.
I’ve always been drawn to nature and adventure since I was a kid. I have vivid memories of hiking with my dad in the Peak District, exploring the rugged landscapes of Yorkshire, and trekking through the stunning Lake District. As I got older, my love for the outdoors only grew stronger. I began venturing afield, exploring hiking trails in Europe and America and even delving into the world of Trail running for ten years in the Peak District and Cumbria.
My priorities have shifted somewhat as I’ve gotten older and started a family. While I still love to travel and explore new places, I now prioritise spending time in nature with my kids. I hope to instil in them the same love for the outdoors that my dad passed down to me.
As the saying goes, “Nature is cheaper than therapy,” and I couldn’t agree more. There’s no better way to clear your mind, recharge your batteries, and reconnect with yourself than by spending time in the natural world. Whether it’s a quick weekend trip to the Peaks or a more extended adventure further afield, I’m always looking for opportunities to get out and explore
So, that’s a bit about me. I may not be the most adventurous hiker out there, but I love spending time outdoors, soaking up all that nature offers. Whether hiking through the Peaks or running the trails of Cumbria, there’s nothing quite like being out in the fresh air and surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.
I find that being in nature helps clear my mind and rejuvenate my spirit. It’s a chance to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and simply be present in the moment.
So why did I set up Out Hiking?
My friends and family have asked me for years, “Hey, where’s the best place to go for a walk in the Peak District?” or “What’s the best pub around here?” So, I’ve compiled a collection of what I consider the best walks, hotels, pubs, and everything else the Peak District has to offer.
I’m all about making sure everyone can enjoy the beauty of the Peak District without any obstacles getting in the way. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just visiting for a bit of R&R, we all know how therapeutic spending time in nature can be.
Think of me as your trusty guide, sharing insider tips and recommendations to ensure you have an unforgettable adventure in the Peak District. From hidden trails with stunning views to charming villages with cozy pubs, I’ve got you covered.
I hope that my recommendations can help you and make your trip stress-free and enjoyable.
